Letter from the Secretary-General
Esteemed Sponsors and Delegates,
As the Secretary General of TAEMUN VIII, I am thrilled to announce the 8th iteration of Thomas A. Edison’s Model United Nations Conference from December 2nd - December 3rd, at Thomas Edison High School. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we were unable to host an in-person conference for the past two years. However, I am extremely pleased to announce TAEMUN VIII ‘comeback’ conference this upcoming December.
The Secretariat and I have worked diligently to ensure all delegates have a memorable, informative, and above all, fun conference experience. We hope that every delegate is able to immerse themselves in the enriching experience of Model United Nations. We have prepared exciting committees and topics ranging from ‘Attack on Titan’ to Cold War: KGB vs. CIA. Our hope as Secretariat is that these topics are able to intrigue and motivate delegates to formulate comprehensive solutions.
This weekend, we plan to emphasize that our Model United Nations Conference is a place to learn and take risks — it is an opportunity for you to lead your bloc, go up for Q&A, and write that committee-altering private directive. TAEMUN VIII seeks to assist delegates in recognizing their own ability to impact and influence committee. We hope that delegates are able to improve their writing, speaking, and collaboration skills in committee sessions. Outside of committee sessions, we implore all delegates to implement their newly acquired abilities into their personal and academic life.
